Thousands of years ago, the mysterious alien beings known only as "Uranus" came to earth. They tampered with the evolution of life on this planet, even going so far as to engineer a mass extinction event to wipe out the dinosaurs. This plan led to the creation of their ultimate weapons, a race of aggressive, intelligent beings capable of surviving and winning under any conditions: mankind. These creatures could be further enhanced into deadly bio-weapons known as zoanoids. And at the pinnacle of their power, they created the ultimate living bioweapon, Arkanphel - the first zoalord.
Arkanphel was a loyal and trusted servant of Uranus. He had immense power and the ability to mentally command the zoanoid armies just like his masters. He was to be the first of twelve commanders of an army Uranus was going to use for a mysterious purpose. Unfortunately, when an experiment was made involving a human being and the alien's standard armor unit, the subject went out of control and was able to overpower the ancients. He destroyed an entire army of zoanoids, but was successfully defeated by Arkanphel.
Afraid of the possibility that their warrior slaves could possibly escape their control, Uranus fled the earth. They abandoned Arkanphel, even going so far as to paralyze him with a powerful psionic attack. They then flung an asteroid the size of the moon at the earth, attempting to destroy Arkanphel, their experiment and the entire planet in one fell shot. Arkanphel, via an act of pure will, escaped his bonds and shattered the asteroid, thus saving the planet, though the chunks that still fell led to the Ice Age.
Arkanphel was forced to return to the earth. Using the remains of a destroyed alien spaceship, Arkanphel went into stasis for thousands of years. Four hundred years ago, he was awakened by Hamilcal Valkus and began to rebuild his zoanoid army and recruit the twelve zoalords. His purpose is simple - to raise an army and travel across the stars to find the creators who abandoned him.
Arkanphel is an enigmatic figure. In many ways, he is like a child. He keenly feels his abandonment by his creators and wants desperately to find them again. What exactly he plans to do when he catches up to them is unclear. He firmly believes himself to be the pinnacle of evolution and the ultimate weapon. He doesn't so much look down on humans as barely acknowledges them. That being said, he has a powerful charisma and supernatural authority to him which makes him a natural leader. He can also be surprisingly kind and forgiving. He treats his fellow zoalords with respect and would rather not have any of them die. He even regrets it when he has to slaughter lesser beings, if only for a few moments. Arkanphel is an incredibly powerful being who has known no other existence but one in which he is the strongest force around, and he acts as one would expect a god to.
In terms of power, Arkanphel is a living god. He can fly, he can produce blasts of energy and is inhumanly strong and tough. He can produce a force field capable of deflecting attacks that could level mountains. He can rip apart objects with a gesture and blow up things that annoy him with a glance. And this is before he enters his zoalord form. In that form, he can resist the effects of a proto-black hole and shatter a planetoid the size of the moon in a single shot. No doubt, if Arkanphel had a mind to he could quite possibly crack the planet in two, but the effort would probably exhaust him.
