Nancy Makuhari is the identity assumed by the I-Jin clone of Mata Hari to infiltrate the British Library Special Operations Division. Like all of the I-Jin, she was created by a secret cadre of Chinese intellectuals for an unknown purpose, and quick-grown to her current age. She served Ikkyuu loyally, and he took the beautiful female spy as his lover to further secure her loyalty.
Nancy successfully inflitrated the B.L.S.O.D., posing as an agent who had actually died years ago. She quickly proved herself an exceptional agent, earning the Codename "Miss Deep" for her ability. She herself dislikes the name, since it "makes her sound like a porn star." She was assigned to assist the Library's top agent, Yomiko "The Paper" Readman in the retrieval of several ancient texts containing the lost Suicide Symphony of Ludwig von Beethoven.
Nancy initially took a dislike to Yomiko and her absent-minded manner, but found herself increasingly growing to like the woman despite her best efforts. She found herself questioning her loyalty to Ikkyuu and his ideals, and pleaded with him to spare the young woman in his new paradise. In reaction to this, Ikkyuu secretly had Nancy cloned again, fully intending to betray and kill the first, then kill and clone Yomiko as well to create a duet of loyal slaves to his will. The new Nancy is quite aware of this plan, and fully approves. Otherwise, her personality and abilities are nearly identical to those of the old Nancy.
Nancy is a professional. She takes her jobs very seriously, and finds herself aggravated by those who don't. She is also a social chameleon, taking on the traits and personality she feels will most endear her to those around her. This constant facade is tiring, and she occasionally becomes morose despite herself. She particularly finds Yomiko's unabashed sincerity endearing and somewhat comforting. Nancy is torn between what she thinks she is supposed to be, and what she wants to be.
Nancy possesses the ability to phase her body through solid matter at will. She can selectively phase different parts of her body, and her mastery of this skill is almost eerie. She is very creative in the use of this power, able to adapt it quickly to a variety of situations. However her control is not instantaneous and she can be caught by surprise or struck while portions of her body are still material by opponents who are fast enough. She is also a skilled martial artist, although not quite to the same scale as your typical fighting anime protagonist, and a excellent marksman with most small arms. While these are not individually very formidible, when combined with her ghosting ability, they make her a superlative assassin.
True to her genetic ancestry, Nancy is also very attractive and seductive. So sensual is she that even normally straight females can be somewhat distracted by her wiles.
