Well, yes, we are. But we admit it, and that makes it okay. Besides, there is some scant justification for believing he's a regular occurance if you draw from the anime...of course, there is also justification in the anime for believing Mousse could beat the living crap out of Ranma in a fight, and that Onna-Ranma is stronger than Mousse and Ryouga put together, and Akane is stronger then all three. So the anime is not exactly what you'd call a reliable and consistant source material, in much the same way that Tsubasa is not what you'd call a reliable and consistant love interest.
