When Integra’s father died, her father left command of the British vampire hunting organization Hellsing to Integra as his last wish. Her uncle, however, did not take kindly to this idea, as Integra was still a child. He attempted to take control of Hellsing by force and have Integra killed to cement his own power. Integra fled to the hidden catacombs under the Hellsing mansion, where she discovered the dessicated corpse of Alucard. Her uncle discovered the child and shot her in the shoulder, an unwise move, as her blood fell on Alucard and revived him. He then declared her his master and killed all of her uncle’s men. Integra, however, took the task of killing her uncle upon herself.
Since then, Integra has been the able commander of the Hellsing organization. She tends to rely on Alucard as her primary anti-vampire weapon, but is still a competent commander and skilled in self defense and firearms. Integra leads with a ruthless and single-minded, almost fanatical, devotion. Her job is to hunt down vampires and other supernatural threats to the Church of England, and she does just that… and to hell with the collateral damage. She does care very deeply about all the men under her command, and takes it as a personal insult whenever one of them is killed in the line of duty.
It is easy to underestimate Integra because of her small stature and how overshadowed she is by her supernatural minions. However, she is a very good shot with a gun and quite skilled with her sword. Enough that any vampire or other beast attacking her one-on-one best do so with great caution, or she may give them a lethal surprise. Sir Integral Fairbrook Wingates Hellsing does not back down from a fight. Ever.
