The leader of the Terrestrial Administration Centre, a top-secret government organisation established with the mandate of being the front line of defence for Japan against the monstrous plant-creatures known as “aragami”. Kunikida is also the personal guardian of the “Kushinada”, the female inheritor of the bloodline of the girl who, in Japanese myth, married the god Susano-oh after he had saved her from being devoured by the eight-headed serpent Yamato-no-Orochi. In modern times, the heir to the bloodline has the special ability that, upon her death, her blood produces a special field thatcauses all the aragami to go dormant.

This makes her, whomever she is at the time, an important resource and last-ditch weapon against the monsters. Kunikida is dedicated to finding a way NOT to have to use this defence, partially because no less than two of the Kushinadas could be considered his adopted daughters.

The first, Kaede, lived with him almost since birth, and he became very attached to her. Her sudden disappearence devastated him, but like the good soldier he is, he recovered, and now looks after Kaede’s twin sister, Momiji Fujimiya. Above all else, he is determined not to allow Momiji to either be used as a sacrifice or to fall into the aragami’s hands like Kaede did.

Kunikida obviously has training and experience in a variety of fields, including law enforcement and perhaps military service. He is well-connected within the Japanese governments, as can be expected of someone who holds as much responsibility as he does. His abilities are strictly within normal human parameters, with his most devastating attack most likely being his horrible sense of humour.
