Makoto Kino is the current reincarnation of Sailor Jupiter, one of the sailor suited female gaurdians of the ancient Moon Kingdom during the Silver Millenium. She is unaware of her true nature, or why she was chosen to be Sailor Jupiter. Makoto likes cooking, boy-chasing and fighting, in about that order.
Jupiter is one of the more powerful of the Senshi, with the ability to summon and attack with lightning bolts. She is also a skilled hand-to-hand fighter, able to briefly hold her own in combat against youma without even needing to transform. Her skills in this area fall far below the superhuman prowess, speed and strength possessed by even weak Ranma characters, not even when she is in her Sailor Senshi form.
She is an orphan, her parents having died in a tragic plane crash when she was very young. Apparently they left her quite a lot of money, as she does not live as a ward of the state, instead maintaining her own small apartment.
