Edge is not nearly as nasty a person as he would dearly like you to believe he is. Nonetheless, he is a juvenile delinquent at heart, and greatly enjoys fighting. He also greatly enjoys knives, and enjoys most of all combining these two things in new and interesting ways. Therefore, it is not particularly surprising he ended up, much to the mortification of his upstanding family, as one of the (worst) students at Gedo High School. But then again, Edge probably enjoyed tweaking his family’s nose, as there’s nothing “upstanding” about him: he even hates his real name, and is liable to attack anybody who calls him by it.

He willingly followed Daigo in the latter’s quest to unite the school gangs, but this hasn’t much mollifed Edge’s love for violence. However, when he worked with Akira to rescue Daigo, he came to appreciate the strength of her character and the friendship they’d formed. He now tries to be a better person, even if he’s not very good at it. One thing he is not, though, is a bully. Edge despises bullies, especially those who pick on women, and takes special pleasure in kicking the living crap out of them.

Edge considers himself to possess a highly delicate and sensitive soul that cannot be subjected to too much work, and requires frequent restorative healing through relaxation and listening to music. Some of his friends are dubious of these claims.

Edge’s greatest asset is his speed. In running, dodging, and striking, he is incredibly fast even by the standards of your average teenage martial arts death machine. Edge also fights dirty, and is more than willing to use weapons. He carries so many knives that he thinks nothing of hurling multiple blades at his opponent in battle. This is all the more remarkable since, as far as anyone can tell, Edge has never really developed his abilities from any sort of training. He just sort of picked it up as he went along.
